“WORD!” ONLINE BLOCK PARTY TO CELEBRATE “NEW WAVE OF HIP-HOP LIT”
All-Day Twitch Party To Highlight New Hip-Hop Book Drops

TrueSkoolTV.com announced today it is hosting an all-day “online block party” called “Word!” to celebrate new book drops by renowned hip-hop writers Jeff Chang and Dave “Davey D” Cook, Rob Kenner and Krishtine “Rocky Rivera” de Leon on March 27, 2021.

“These writers have changed the game and are taking hip-hop lit to new heights. So we’re celebrating by bringing the old to the new,” said Renoir Salgado, head of TrueSkoolTV.com. “During the pandemic, the best way to party is by bringing it online. We’re bringing the block party to you.”

The party highlights three new books coming in March that mark what Salgado calls “a new wave of hip-hop lit”: a revised and new young adult edition of the classic Can’t Stop Won’t Stop by Jeff Chang and Dave “Davey D” Cook, Snakeskin, a book of powerful essays by beloved writer/rapper Krishtine “Rocky Rivera” de Leon, and the already acclaimed Nipsey Hussle biography, The Marathon Don’t Stop: The Life and Times of Nipsey Hussle by Rob Kenner.

Playing for the all-day event are DJs Rich Medina, Umami, LadyFingaz, D-Sharp, Selecta, Alex Mejia, Chuy Gomez, DJ Roza, Quame Love, and the Sazon Libre crew. Rocky Rivera, Rob Kenner, Davey D and Jeff Chang, will host hour-long sessions with music and drop-ins from hip-hop luminaries. More special guest appearances and a schedule will be announced soon.

The party will run from 10am Pacific well into the evening on March 27th. It will be streamed at True Skool TV’s channel on Twitch (twitch.tv/TrueSkoolTV) as well as those of the DJs, and at TrueSkoolTV.com/word. It will be archived at TrueSkoolTV as well.
