Powell’s Books presents: Jeff Chang in conversation with Walidah Imarisha

Join us as two friends talk about Bruce Lee, the past and the alternative futures his story suggests. Jeff Chang will be joined in conversation by Portland’s beloved writer/educator/organizer Walidah Imarisha, author of Angels with Dirty Faces.

Walidah is the co-editor of two anthologies, Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories From Social Justice Movements and Another World is Possible. Imarisha is the author of Angels with Dirty Faces: Three Stories of Crime, Prison and Redemption, which won an Oregon Book Award, as well as the poetry collection Scars/Stars. She spent 6 years with Oregon Humanities’ Conversation Project as a public scholar facilitating programs across the state about Oregon Black history and other topics. Imarisha currently teaches in Portland State University’s Black Studies Department and is the Director of the PSU’s Center for Black Studies.
